School Support Officer Announcement

The Directors and Officers of IBSCA are delighted to announce the appointment of Leanne Gibbons as IBSCA School Support Officer from September 2025. Leanne is currently Assistant Principal Head of Sixth Form and IBCP coordinator at Impington Village & International College and brings a wealth of experience to the role. Leanne will be seconded from Impington for one day per week and her role encompasses support for all IBSCA members and all IB programmes. Leanne will work closely with our four Programme Community Leads and will be helping with the promotion, growth and delivery of IB programmes in member schools.

Jo Sale, Principal of Impington Village & Impington College reflected on Leanne's appointment:

Leanne has worked with both the IB DP and CP programmes for over 15 years, particularly in the areas of programme development, recruitment and progressions. She brings a huge amount of experience and enthusiasm for the role and we are very proud of her! As a UK IB World School we have worked closely with IBSCA for many years and we are especially pleased to have this opportunity to strengthen our collaboration via this secondment, not only with the IBSCA organisation itself but also with the many other UK IB schools who are part of IBSCA.

Richard Markham, IBSCA CEO, noted:

I am delighted to welcome Leanne to the IBSCA team. She has been hugely involved with IBSCA over a number of years and we are looking forward to benefiting from her insights, drive and passion for the International Baccalaureate. I sincerely hope that schools will benefit as much from this role as the Association will and I look forward to Leanne starting in September.

Leanne Gibbons, School Support Officer, shared:

September 2025 marks 17 years since I became an IB convert.  I began teaching at Impington Village College and Impington International Sixth Form, soon becoming A Level Coordinator alongside teaching IB English Literature. Over the years, I’ve taken on roles as IBCPC and Head of Sixth Form, working closely with my IBDPC counterpart. I’ve worked alongside colleagues to establish the MYP and supported our trust schools through PYP authorisation.

Throughout all of this, the biggest support I have found has been that gained through collaboration with other IB world schools – both globally and, especially, across the UK. In my new role as IBSCA School Support Officer, I’m excited to deepen that collaboration, champion IB values to enrich schools’ diverse contexts, and support schools at every stage of their IB journey.
