Exploring & Experimenting in DP Theatre: how to practically engage with world theatre traditions & theatre theorists

Open to educators from IBSCA member schools, our free Seminar series provides an in-depth look at some of the key topics and challenges facing our IB community.

The event is open to IB DP Theatre educators.

Seminar Description:

What’s the difference between exploring and experimenting in the Research Presentation? How can practical exploration in the Solo Theatre Piece be informed by theory whilst also developing intentions? How do I equip my students to know where to start and how to independently follow their own practical pathway? Join us for this virtual seminar as we unpack the role of practical exploration in the DP Theatre assessment tasks, share methods for promoting student independence and agency in their preparations, and demystify the assessment criteria in tasks requiring practical exploration - including a focus on the subtle yet powerful difference between exploring and experimenting for a chosen World Theatre Tradition.
