Expanding approaches - fresh ideas in the DP & CP Virtual Conference

We look forward to welcoming IB coordinators, teachers and senior leaders to our virtual conference for the Diploma Programme and Career-Related Programme. With a focus on broadening ideas for programme delivery and exploring the implications of programme development, the conference will bring together a range of speakers and delegates to share their experience of good practice. IBSCA Member schools are also invited to join our Annual General Meeting where we will be discussing developments within IBSCA and our wider IB context.

Please note that the conference registration fee is per school, meaning that the single fee provides access to the conference for all IB educators from your school.



Conference Themes

The day will focus on exploring developments within both the DP and CP with an emphasis on discussing fresh ideas and approaches to programme delivery. Educators from all programmes are invited to attend any session throughout the day that they feel has relevance to them regardless of which programme they teach.

IBSCA members are invited to join this session for a report on our recent activities as well as a discussion of our intentions for the upcoming academic year. Unlocking Potential: Celebrating Teaching & Learning in the MYP

We look forward to welcoming coordinators, teachers and senior leaders to our in-person conference Unlocking Potential: Celebrating Teaching & Learning in the MYP.


Conference Programme

The day will be dedicated to exploring innovation in MYP practice and sharing experience among MYP educators in the UK. We will examine developments within the MYP with an emphasis on sharing fresh ideas and approaches to programme delivery. To help us build a programme that is relevant and meaningful to IBSCA’s MYP schools, we will be soliciting input from Coordinators on what topics would be of most interest to their MYP communities. These suggestions will be incorporated into our conference programme.

The day will be structured to allow for networking opportunities among MYP colleagues through informal discussions as well as breakout sessions allowing for collaborative work.

Higher Education Conference

In conjunction with the University of Manchester, we look forward to welcoming you to our Higher Education Conference for IB educators. The conference is open to guidance and college counsellors, IB Coordinators, members of senior leadership, and other professionals involved in supporting IB students in their journey to higher education.


Conference Sessions

The conference will explore a wide range of topics related to IB students’ transition to higher education. Sessions are designed to provide insights, encourage discussion, and enhance knowledge, so please bring your questions and experience to share with fellow delegates.

Join us for sessions covering the following topics among others:

  • Teaching and learning following COVID

  • The future of UCAS

  • IB services to schools and HE

  • Breakout sessions allowing for exploration of a variety of topics including: international universities, degree apprenticeships, law, engineering, the arts, economics, medicine, and alternatives to medicine


Pre-Conference Event (applications now closed)

IBSCA members are invited to attend our pre-conference event on Thursday the 14th of September at the University of Manchester. This event is open exclusively to higher education counsellors from IBSCA member schools and we extend a particularly warm welcome to those who are new to the to role.

  • 14:00 - 16:00: Welcome & introduction to higher education counselling for IB students

  • 16:00: Tour of the University of Manchester

  • 19:00: Drinks reception

  • 19:30: Dinner with fellow HE counsellors and University of Manchester personnel

The pre-conference event is offered at no additional charge. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. You can indicate that you wish to participate by ticking the pre-conference event box on the application form for the conference.
