Raising awareness and aspirations in the UK
2016 was an exciting year for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and IB World Schools with the launch of a number of initiatives in the UK.
The IB’s continued collaboration with Kent County Council means that 27 schools in just one county of the UK are now offering the Career-related Programme and raising aspirations among their students and communities. This project, along with our partnership with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments to offer a structured route into the finance sector, demonstrates their commitment to developing IB in the UK and to supporting schools and students alike.
The IB team has worked hard this past year to raise awareness of, and communicate news about, IB through the UK media. They have also had a presence at key education trade shows in the UK including Bett, for a second year running, which attracted over 35,000 visitors, the upcoming Association of School and College Leaders Conference and the Education Show next month. Events like these give the IB valuable opportunities to meet with the media who attend, network with new schools and raise awareness and the profile of the IB continuum of programmes.
