Our Academy opened in September 2006 and serves the area of East Leeds; we are part of the government’s Academies programme. Our building is a state of the art twenty-first century Academy with students and staff working in an ICT rich environment. We attract a lot of attention nationally and internationally and host visitors on a very regular basis, as a key part of our role is to model innovative practice. Learning in the Academy is highly personalised with a 2 year Key Stage Three and a 3 year Key Stage Four. Our Sixth Form curriculum includes the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Academy takes great pride in its Sixth Form students. They help us to inspire and lead the whole Academy. Most of our students continue into university; some decide on a career with training. Our students are thoroughly supported during their time here and they enjoy the many opportunities for extra-curricular activities which add depth to CVs and UCAS applications. DYCA is not an ordinary school: it is a unique environment with exceptional students and staff undertaking transformational work |
