IBSCA to deliver its IB authorised professional development workshops virtually
The IB Schools and Colleges Association for the UK and Ireland has received approval from the International Baccalaureate Organization to temporarily transfer the delivery of its authorised professional development workshops to an online platform. The approval has been granted as a response to travel restrictions and transmission concerns around Covid-19 and will be in effect until the end of 2020.
The provision of virtual learning will help support IB schools and educators to remain up-to-date with syllabus changes and best practice for the delivery of the IB curriculum. Given school closures due to the Covid-19 global pandemic and growing concerns over support for students who will take IB exams in 2021, maintaining high-quality professional development provision is essential for ensuring students continue to receive correct and robust support from their IB schools.
IB approval will enable IBSCA to continue to support the hundreds of IB educators who attend its authorised professional development workshops every year. All workshops between September and December 2020 will be delivered synchronously with additional opportunities for independent learning, allowing delegates to reap the benefits of learning from experienced workshop leaders and networking with colleagues from around the world.
IBSCA CEO, Richard Markham, explains the importance of the approval to the IB community, “We are delighted to be able to transfer the expertise we have developed through years of delivering face-to-face IB authorised workshops to the online environment. Through our recent conversations with IB schools and teachers, we know that having professional development opportunities available from trusted sources plays a key role in the confidence of IB educators to respond to the changing circumstances brought on by Covid-19”.
IBSCA’s authorised professional development workshops are available to IB teachers and school leaders across the Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma, and Career-Related Programmes. Members of the IB community can learn more and apply by following the link below.
